Welcome to Open Door Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship

"Open Door Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship is an emerging church within our community with an extremely large footprint because of the teachings and examples that Bishop House displays for us to duplicate. Under her leadership, Deacons have been trained, selected, completed a year course of study and ordained, as well as ministers ordained and set out to work with one accord, building upon the strength of one another. As a humble "tell it like it is Pastor", her love for community and people in general, has made Bishop House the community's pastor. Bishop House's leadership is known and trusted in the streets of our community as well as in city hall, our district and state that focuses on God first, and we continue to move forward and in the right direction under her leadership."

Pastor Arthur L. House Jr. held worship service for the
future Open Door Baptist Church on June 11, 1989 at 8:00 am in
Phyllis Wheatley YMCA, Newport News, VA. Sixty-two congregants
attended the worship service. After the first two
services an organizational meeting was held on June 21, 1989.
Rev. House stated, “We believe we can have a church where we can
work together in the spirit of love and truth. We want to lift
up the Name of Jesus.” The persons present agreed unanimously
to continue worship service at the Phyllis Wheatley YMCA and to
organize a church.

It was decided the name of the church would be Open Door
Baptist Church
and Rev 3:8 would be the church theme scripture.
Forty-two dedicated Christians became charter members of the
newly organized Open Door Baptist Church, June 21, 1989. From
that day forward, the pastor and members of Open Door Baptist
Church went to work carrying out the “Lord’s Work.” God
continued to allow us to move forward in His Name as we embarked
upon the restoration of our beautiful edifice He blessed us with from
Phoebus Restoration Baptist Church as a gift on November 25, 1992.

After the transition of our founding pastor, Bishop Arthur
L. House, Jr. in July 2010, our current pastor, Bishop Gail
Roberts-House, his wife, took the helm of the ministry. She
was installed as the Pastor in December 2010 and was consecrated

as a Bishop in the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International on

October 6, 2020 and continues to lead us in service

to the community and to the Lord.
